Rain boots

10/14/10  The only thing I like about the rainy weather is wearing rain boots.  Every rain boot is a reflection of each individual's personalities.  Some have the costly name brands to the knock-offs.  Others prefer the plain colored rain boots, while some likes the multi-colored ones with abstract designs.  No matter which one you prefer to buy, I'm sure it will be a reflection of your colorful personality or your serious plain side.  Either way, rain boots goes with every outfit but it can be heavy at times.

Don't Let Your Clothes Wear You

Just because something is the trend, "what's in", "what's hot" or the "it" thing, does not mean you have to wear it.  Don't let your clothes wear you.  Don't follow trends, be a trend setter.  If you don't like it, don't wear it.  For instance, if you don't like cowboy boots, don't buy one, waste your money and be forced to wear it.  Be yourself.

Sagging Pants, a Prison Trend

I always hear that women should respect themselves and to not wear revealing clothes. Well what about men with their saggy pants showing their behinds?
This seems to be a trend growing especially from teenagers.  It became such a problem that, according to an August 30, 2007 article on The New York Times newspaper, the style carries a fine as much as $500 or up to a six-month sentence in Delcambre, La.

Sagging pants started in prison because prisoners were not able to wear belts or shoelaces due to the fact that they may use them to hang themselves, hang someone or use them in a fight.  It is also a sign initiating you are a homosexual.  Like Eazy E once said about women in skirts, "For easy access, baby."  Men, you should take your own advice and respect yourselves.

Out of Contol Leopard Print

Have you ever seen someone wearing too much leopard print? I saw someone in Time Square 42nd St. wearing leopard tights, bag, shoes and scarf.  Almost like this picture.  If you want to wear a leopard print, try wearing just one item so the focus is on that item that you want people to notice.  Whether it's your new leopard bag, shirt or shoes but not all three.  A good example are these celebrities. They only accented their shoes.  Nicole Richie (left) and Christina Aguilera (right) shows us how to work a little black dress with leopard heels.  While Beyonce Knowles' (middle) dress might be a bit busy for a leopard pattern heels, she can still work it.

No one should be wearing too much leopard print unless you're Josie and the Pussycats.

Fashion NO NO!-- white socks with suit or heels

I love men in suits with their sophisticated looks and GQ styles but then you look down and you see them wearing WHITE socks.
Gentlemen please buy black socks or at least dark colored ones.  You can find them at your local Target, CVS, Duane Reade, 99 Cent Stores, bargain stores and so on.  I promise it will not break your wallet.  It is a small price to pay for good impressions to your boss and even to the ladies.

The same rule applies for the ladies.  Please do NOT wear white socks with heels. You may be feeling the North Pole breeze but that is never an excuse to wear white socks with your heels.

Back to the gentlemen.  Another suggestion is not to wear socks with your sandals.  I saw a lot of men wearing them in the streets, parks and the subway.  It does not compliment your feet, make it seem leaner, fitter or more masculine in any way.  It definitely does the opposite and make the ladies think you're hiding something gross under there.

Floral Stockings

As the weather in New York gets colder, we need to bundle up but we also want to look fashionable at the same time.  We may want to wear dresses in the winter but it is ten degrees below outside.  Of course wearing jeans with the dress is out of the question, therefore we wear tights or stockings.  Some who are more daring should try stockings with floral designs.  It will definitely add a feminine and fun element to the dress as Leighton Meester is seen wearing in the picture below.

How short is too short?

10/15/10  Some people need to live somewhere else, like in Florida or Texas for instance.  Since summer is over, the weather can be very cold at times but people are still wearing very short shorts or very short dresses. It seems like they missed the memo that it's feels like winter outside.  As I watched the Channel 11 News, I thought it said New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he will fine women who wear skimpy mini skirts which shows their undergarments or men who are shirtless, a $700 fine but as I was googling it to reassure myself, it said conservative Mayor Luigi Bobbio was the one who wants to ban skimpy clothing in Italy.  Either way, I think it's a good idea in order to prevent rape victims in our community because by wearing "skimpy outfits" it's like invoking men's (rapists') attention.

Skinny jeans

There was a joke I read on Facebook which I thought was funny.  It said, "they're called skinny jeans, not make you skinny jeans."  I don't agree with it though because no matter what size you are, you can definately wear skinny jeans.  As long as you don't force yourself in a size too small for you, which I know a lot of women do sometimes.  I love skinny jeans because they seem to be timeless and they are always coming back in style. Since it's high boots season again, skinny jeans are perfect to wear with them because they are very snug in ankles, therefore you can easily slip into your high boots.  In comparison with bell bottoms, where you have to fold the bottom and wrap it around your ankles in order to fit in your high boots.  Another plus points to skinny jeans is that, they do make you look skinnier but for women who have wide hips, they seem to enhance your hips even more, sorry ladies.

How high is too high?

11/8/10   Since New York City is known for its night life and clubbing scene, a lot of girls tend to wear really high stiletto heels.  I don't mean to offend any ladies but some can not even walk in them but they still force themselves to wear too high stiletto heels.  If you know you can't walk in them because they really hurt your feet, perhaps wear a shorter heel for your comfort and posture.  In my opinion, if your feet are hurting but you look like you can "pull it off" and not look like you're limping then go ahead because like beauty experts say, "beauty hurts" right?  But I have to warn you ladies because I've read from a health magazine and saw on a television talk show that when we wear heels, we hurt our spinal cords because of our posture since we're out of balance from tip toe-ing from too high stiletto heels.  Here is an excellent example of very high stiletto heels from Christian Louboutin, which Beyonce sported in her "Single Ladies" video.
